AgriBriefing’s Price Reporting Businesses Receive Independent Assurance of IOSCO Compliance

February 10, 2022, London – AgriBriefing, the largest global independent pricing and market data group for the agri-food sector, is pleased to receive third-party assurance of IOSCO compliance for two of its companies, Urner Barry and Feedinfo.

Urner Barry and Feedinfo have both successfully completed an independent review of their price reporting methodologies and control procedures undertaken by auditor BDO. The Type 1 assurance reports, which examined key benchmark price indices across both companies, confirm that Urner Barry and Feedinfo’s processes are aligned with the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) Principles for Price Reporting Agencies (PRAs).

IOSCO is the international body that brings together the world’s securities regulators and is recognized as the global standard setter for the securities sector. IOSCO’s PRA principles ensure the integrity of price assessment functions and the reliability of assessed prices.

“Our clients require the highest quality information to effectively conduct their business and navigate the supply chain,” said Urner Barry CEO, Joe Muldowney. “This independent assurance review reflects the pledge we undertake to provide them with robust, independent, and accurate market coverage.”

“Adherence to the IOSCO Principles really is the gold standard for Price Reporting Agencies (PRAs),” said AgriBriefing Europe MD, Julien Hardwick. “I’m delighted that Feedinfo is able to deliver high-quality price assessments across Europe, Asia and North America, and I look forward to developing our service further over the coming year.”

AgriBriefing CEO, Rory Brown added “PRA’s are an important part of the efficient functioning of any commodity marketplace. They provide independent, trusted benchmarks for a wide range of traded products and shed light on global markets which are huge, but often opaque.
For many decades Urner Barry and Feedinfo have been the ‘go to’ reference sources for their sectors. Now, with the formal audit of our methodologies, governance structures and assessment processes, the entire supply chain can take even greater confidence from the independence and integrity of our pricing data.”
